The research group Lectoescrinautas has carried out qualitative research projects to explore language and literacy practices with teachers in Bogotá since 2000. Most of them have been funded by Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. The University of New Hampshire and the University of Dundee have collaborated on projects with us. In 2001 the group obtained a research grant from COLCIENCIAS for a 2001-2004 project.
Former students from the Masters Program in Applied Linguistics and the LEBEI (Licenciatura en Básica con Énfasis en Inglés) have participated as co researchers and research assistants in the research group. That has been a great opportunity to reach the goal to form new researchers in the language and literacy field at Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas (UDFJC).
The following are the projects implemented from 2000 to 2021. A long term international collaboration with the University of New Hampshire started in 2009 and continued to 2021. These 15 years of collaboration have had a great impact in the learning experiences of students and university based researchers.
This project was developed in collaboration with the University of New Hampshire. The participants were local teachers, graffiti artists, business owners, and university students in La Candelaria and Santafé, two districts in the historic center of Bogotá. The students and the university professors presented the results of the research project in local, national and international conferences.
The schools participating were IED La Candelaria, IED Policarpa Salavarrieta Sede B.
